Paskenta is located in rural Tehama County. Paskenta is said to be an Indian term for "under the bank". Historically, it had greater local importance due to the presence of an active lumber mill. Paskenta sits at an elevation of 725 feet and the 2010 United States census reported Paskenta's population was 112. Within Paskenta, there is a store for gas and food also called "Paskenta". It has been recently reconstructed.
